WHY BIRD BOXES?

Bird boxes are a great way to increase biodiversity. For birds that nest in tree cavities, but have no way of making the cavities themselves, nesting habitat is often limiting and competition can be intense. In the agricultural landscape, there is often a shortage of nesting places for these birds. Some birds are insectivorous birds that can be beneficial by managing insect pests such as flies. Reduced abundance of prey has reduced populations of most bird species that eat flying insects. Bird boxes also attract interesting species that can provide enjoyable bird watching.

OUR LOCATION

Lazy T Farm is located near the edge of where the parklands and the grassland meet, very close to the Battle River. We are also located right along a very major migratory path for seasonal birds.

Donate a bird box to our project!

Options:

1. $22/box (we will buy a bird box from Ellis Bird Farm for you)

2. Build your own!

We will give you a number for your bird box(es) and update you each year on what birds nested or what we found in the box. You will also always be welcome to visit our farm, check out the boxes your self and see what we are up to.

Just send us an email and we will answer any question or arrange to have your bird boxes added to our project.

Thank you so much for your help with this project to help bring back habitat for the birds!
